Author Guidelines

Submission Conditions

The ESA OAB/SP Virtual Scientific Journal invites authors to submit papers (articles, essays, reviews, and interviews). The journal operates on a rolling basis. Works must be original and unpublished. Submission implies a commitment not to submit the manuscript simultaneously to another journal.

1. Core Editorial Policies

1.1. Minimum Qualification and Eligibility To ensure scientific rigor, the journal establishes the following criteria:

  • Articles and Dossiers: At least one of the authors must hold a PhD or be a Doctoral Candidate.

  • Reviews and Interviews: At least one of the authors must hold a Specialist degree.

1.2. Peer Review Process The journal adopts a Double-Blind Peer Review system.

  • Desk Review: Submissions are evaluated for scope, formatting, and academic integrity (plagiarism).

  • Peer Review: Approved manuscripts are sent to at least two external ad hoc experts.

  • Criteria: Originality, methodological rigor, clarity, and scientific relevance.

  • Deliberation: Editors decide on: Acceptance, Mandatory Corrections, or Rejection.

  • Average Time: The journal aims to complete the evaluation cycle in approximately 12 weeks.

1.3. Open Access and Licensing

This is an Open Access journal. All content is available for free and immediately.

  • License: Articles are published under the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International (CC BY 4.0).

1.4. Publication Costs (APCs)

The journal does not charge any fees (APCs) for submission, evaluation, or publication.

1.5. Copyright Statement

Authors retain full copyright and grant the journal the right of first publication under the CC BY 4.0 license.

2. Manuscript Preparation

2.1. Format, Standards, and Structure

  • File: Must be sent exclusively in Microsoft Word (.docx) format.

  • Technical Standards: Strict compliance with ABNT standards (NBR 6022, 6023, and 10520).

  • Size: Articles must be between 15 and 25 pages (including references).

2.2. Identifiers (ORCID and ROR)

  • ORCID: Mandatory for all authors.

  • Affiliation (ROR): Authors must use the integrated ROR (Research Organization Registry) search tool to select their official institutional name.

2.3. Anonymization Guidelines To ensure blind evaluation, the .docx file must not contain names or authorship metadata in the document properties.

2.4. Image Accessibility Visual elements must include Alternative Text (Alt Text) inserted in the image properties in Word

Submission Preparation Checklist

Checklist

  1. Originality: The submission is original, unpublished, and not under consideration by another journal.

  2. Minimum Qualification: I declare that the authorship meets the required qualification criteria (Articles/Dossiers: at least one PhD or Doctoral Candidate; Reviews/Interviews: at least one Specialist).

  3. Format: The submission file is in Microsoft Word (.docx) format; scanned PDFs or images are not accepted.

  4. Length and Standards: The text is between 15 and 25 pages (for articles) and strictly follows ABNT standards (NBR 6022, 6023, and 10520).

  5. Anonymization: The manuscript has been properly anonymized, with no authorship identification (name or affiliation) in the text or file properties.

  6. ORCID: ORCID IDs for all authors have been provided in the submission metadata.

  7. Affiliation (ROR): Institutional affiliation was provided using the integrated ROR search tool within the OJS system.

  8. Copyright: Authors agree to the Copyright Notice and publication under the Creative Commons CC BY 4.0 license.

  9. Accessibility: I declare that I have provided Alternative Text (Alt Text) for all visual elements (images, tables, or charts).

Articles

This section accepts original articles and unpublished essays, covering all areas of Law and its interfaces with Applied Social Sciences. All submissions undergo Double-Blind Peer Review and must comply with the ethical guidelines established by COPE. This section operates under a Continuous Flow model. 

Mandatory submission criteria: At least one author must hold a PhD or be a Doctoral Candidate. The manuscript must be between 15 and 25 pages long and strictly follow ABNT standards.

Dossier

Dossier sections of the ESASP Journal are established by administrative decision of the Board of the Superior School of Law (ESA/SP). The scientific coordination and final approval of the articles within the Dossier are the responsibility of the Proposal Coordinators. However, to ensure academic excellence and integrity, all manuscripts submitted to this section must undergo a double-blind peer review process, ensuring compliance with the scientific quality criteria of this publication. Mandatory submission criteria: At least one author must hold a PhD or be a Doctoral Candidate. The manuscript must be between 15 and 25 pages long and strictly follow ABNT standards.

Entrevista

This section is intended for the publication of interviews that promote structured dialogues of high academic density with prominent researchers, jurists, and professionals. Submitted contributions undergo editorial and peer review, following COPE ethical guidelines, on a Continuous Flow basis. Mandatory submission criteria: At least one author (interviewer) must hold a Specialist degree. The text must be between 5 and 10 pages long and strictly follow ABNT standards.

Reviews

This section is dedicated to the publication of objective and critical reviews of recent and relevant works in the fields of Law and Applied Social Sciences. Submitted contributions undergo peer review, aligned with COPE ethical guidelines, operating on a Continuous Flow basis. Mandatory submission criteria: At least one author must hold a Specialist degree. The text must be between 3 and 5 pages long and strictly follow ABNT standards.
