Economic Plans and savings account correction
Keywords:
Economic Plans, Monetary Correction, Currency StabilizationAbstract
This article analyzes the outcome of the macro-litigation concerning the economic plans (Bresser, Verão, Collor I and II) in the Brazilian Supreme Court (STF), focusing on the monetary correction of savings accounts. The methodology addresses the history of monetary stabilization measures and the replacement of indices that generated thousands of lawsuits alleging violation of acquired rights. The result indicates that the STF declared the constitutionality of the plans, validating state intervention as legitimate to contain inflationary crises, and considered the legal discussion (ADPF 165) to be moot due to the passage of time and adherence to collective agreements.
