    Abstract

The article analyzes the judgment of ADI 7,746, in which the STF assessed the constitutionality of a State of Goiás rule that linked the salary of public employees of a state agency to the earnings of permanent servants with equivalent functions. The author examines the "interpretation in conformity" technique used by the Court to prohibit automatic increases, maintaining only the nominal value, and presents a doctrinal critique on the need to ensure real equality between careers that perform identical duties and degrees of responsibility.
