    Abstract

    The article analyzes the revision of the legal status of animals in the draft reform of the Brazilian Civil Code. It discusses the transition from the concept of "objects of law" to "sentient living beings," as proposed in Art. 91-A. It also addresses the regulation of shared custody of pets in Family Law and the recognition of human-animal affection as a personality right. (Received: August 2024 | Accepted: October 2024)
